The Do’s and Don’ts of Outsourcing Translations

Gabriele Berghammer
the text clinic

Participant profile
This seminar will be of interest to all those buying, reviewing, or simply reading translated text – and to those who have found that any of the above can be a rather frustrating experience.

Objective
The seminar is aimed at improving communication between buyers and sellers of translations to guarantee that each translation fulfils its defined purpose.

Content
We will be looking at a number of questions relevant to any translation situation:
What do I expect of a translation? What is its purpose? Who is it intended for? What type of background information does my translator need? Why does my translator ask so many questions? – and: How do I find a translator or translation vendor who fulfils all of my expectations? At the end of the seminar, participants will walk away with a checklist for use during their next briefing discussion with their translator.
