2008 in review: health action in humanitarian crises
2 January 2009 -- In 2008, WHO and its partners provided emergency health relief to populations affected by conflicts and natural disasters. A massive earthquake in China, cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, tropical storms in Haiti, floods across West Africa and Yemen, and fighting in Ethiopia, Sudan and the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo put millions of people at risk.
