The September issue of TWS is now available online in the Members only section of the EMWA website (www.emwa.org).
This issue presents articles on the areas covered by the term Healthcare communications. You might be surprised to learn that few medical writers currently work in these areas. Two articles discuss the correct use of prepositions in English while another considers how English is creeping into Swedish. Other topics include answers from Thomson Reuters on how they calculate journal impact factors, accounts of two routes taken into medical writing, and the possibility of calculating the return on attending a conference. Two new columns make their debut, Medical journalism and Manuscript writing. You can read about transparency at the European Medicines Agency and active comparator trials before drug approval in the regulator writers’ column while the Freelance section features a debate on project versus hourly rates. The Translation section has a comprehensive article on outsourcing, certainly of interest to anyone involved in outsourcing. Another describes the experience of a journal that publishes bilingually in English and Turkish. Finally EMWA’s got news—be sure to read the President’s message.
