29th EMWA Conference
The Westin Grand
Frankfurt, Germany
12-14 November 2009

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I am delighted to invite you to attend the 29th EMWA conference to be held on 12-14 November 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany.

This conference provides a unique opportunity for training in a broad range of topics related to medical writing. We are offering workshops on regulatory documents and guidelines such as CTD clinical overviews, patient information leaflets, observational studies, the EU Clinical Trials Directive and GCP. You can also learn how to write medical communications such as manuscripts, systematic reviews and grant applications and discover how to develop a publication strategy. You can also improve your editing skills and make sure you are using correct punctuation! We have workshops on professional techniques such as statistics, use of information sources, project management, proposal writing, and maintaining good vendor–client relationships. In addition, specialists will share their knowledge of scientific fields including epidemiology, immunology, pharmacology, pharmacogenomics and vaccines.

If you register for the EMWA Professional Development Programme (EPDP), you can obtain credits towards a foundation or advanced certificate by attending workshops and completing the pre- and post-workshop assignments. But even if this is not your priority, all of the workshops offer exceptional opportunities for learning and sharing of experience and ideas.

An EMWA conference is also a fantastic place to network with colleagues and make new contacts. Our conference participants generally include medical writers, editors, translators, research scientists, and other related professions. They come from a wide range of backgrounds including pharmaceutical companies, CROs, medical communications agencies, universities and publishers, as well as freelancers and small businesses. So attending our conference is also a great way to meet potential clients or subcontractors, and to meet colleagues within your field and beyond.

Of course the networking opportunities will continue in the evenings with our social events. After a productive day of work, we all need time to relax and have fun, don’t we? So, we do hope you will join us for the Opening Session (where we will find out about some of the surprises that Frankfurt has in for us) followed by the complimentary welcome drinks reception, as well as dinner at one of the three excellent restaurant options on the Friday evening.

I am very excited about this conference and I am really looking forward to seeing you there!
